A total of six students were honored with scholarships during a special luncheon organized by the Olivet Boys & Girls Club in Reading, Pennsylvania. Each recipient received $7,500 to support their higher education pursuits. The event took place on August 13, 2023, at the Oakbrook club, celebrating the achievements of recent alumni.
The scholarship recipients represent a diverse group of young individuals committed to furthering their education. Among them is Noah Gibney, a graduate of Wyomissing High School who plans to attend Berklee College of Music. Another recipient, Zahavah Oliveras, also a 2025 graduate from Reading High School, is set to enroll at Cedar Crest College.
Additionally, Jennasea Rodriguez, a 2023 Wyomissing High School graduate, is currently attending Reading Area Community College. Jeremiah Santiago, who will graduate in 2024 from Reading High School, has plans to attend Penn State Berks. Kahlil Samuels, a fellow 2025 graduate of Reading High School, will be joining Virginia Union University. Lastly, Nico Sosa, a 2024 Reading High School graduate, is set to attend Sussex Community College.
The scholarships were made possible through the generous contributions of local donors, including Sue Palmer, Art Haberberger, Tom McMahon, and Bernice Lebo. Their support underscores the community’s commitment to empowering young individuals through education, fostering future leaders in various fields.
