University of Georgia Star Nyier Daniels Arrested on Felony Charges

URGENT UPDATE: University of Georgia star offensive lineman Nyier Daniels has been arrested on serious charges, including two counts of second-degree cruelty to children and one count of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. The arrest occurred on Sunday, October 15, 2023, in Commerce, GA, approximately 20 miles from Athens, where the university is located.

Authorities report that Daniels attempted to evade police after they initially stopped his mother for running a stop sign. Witnesses say he sped away at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. Officers pursued him, but chaos ensued when his mother allegedly obstructed their path. The pursuit ended only when a University of Georgia coach intervened, convincing Daniels to turn himself in.

In addition to the felony charges, Daniels faces several misdemeanor allegations, including reckless driving and failure to stop at stop signs. His mother has also been booked for multiple offenses, including speeding and obstruction.

The situation is still developing, and fans are left reeling from the news. The University of Georgia has not yet released an official statement regarding Daniels’ status on the team or any potential disciplinary actions.

Local officials are emphasizing the seriousness of these charges, particularly the allegations of cruelty to children. The community anxiously awaits further details as the investigation unfolds.
