Aaron Paul Confirms He Won’t Return to ‘Invincible’ Role

UPDATE: Aaron Paul has officially announced that he will not reprise his role as Powerplex in the upcoming seasons of the hit animated series Invincible. During a recent episode of the Kinda Funny podcast, Paul revealed he turned down an offer to return, citing the role’s emotional toll on him.

The actor described the experience as “too grueling” and expressed discomfort with revisiting the character, stating, “What it did to me, I didn’t like.” This news comes as fans eagerly anticipate the next season of Invincible, set to return in March 2024.

Paul voiced Powerplex, a supervillain driven by vengeance after losing his sister and niece during the fierce battle between Invincible and Omni-Man. His character’s arc took a dark turn, notably in the season three episode “All I Can Say is Sorry,” where he unintentionally kills his wife and son in a tragic showdown with Invincible.

While fans enjoyed Paul’s portrayal, his decision to step away from the role leaves a significant impact on the series. Powerplex remains a complex character in the comics, suggesting that even with a different voice actor, he will continue to pose a threat to Mark and other heroes.

For those craving more of Paul’s voice acting, he is still active in the industry, recently featured in AdHoc Studio’s Dispatch, which has been nominated for accolades at the Game Awards.

As fans process this unexpected turn, all eyes will be on the upcoming fourth season of Invincible, with anticipation building around how Powerplex’s absence will affect the storyline.

Stay tuned for further updates as this developing story unfolds.
