The Enzweiler Building Institute has announced the opening of evening enrollment for high school seniors, beginning with the term starting in January 2026. This initiative allows students to receive training in various skilled trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, facilities maintenance, and welding, before they graduate.
Classes will take place two nights a week, from 6 to 9 p.m., starting on January 5, 2026, and running through July. With locations in Erlanger and Latonia, the Enzweiler Building Institute, operated by the Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky, is dedicated to providing hands-on training in construction and skilled trades.
This program offers students the unique opportunity to complete their first year of postsecondary education while still in high school. Through partnerships with local communities, the institute will provide full scholarships to seniors from the River City school districts of Ludlow, Covington, Newport, Bellevue, and Dayton. Additionally, students from surrounding districts may qualify for full or partial scholarships.
Brian Miller, Executive Vice President of the Enzweiler Building Institute, expressed excitement about the program’s potential impact, stating, “We are thrilled to give local high school seniors an early start on a fulfilling and stable career path. By combining classroom instruction with real-world experience, students graduate with the confidence and skills employers are looking for.”
The initiative aims to address the workforce demand in the region by providing early access to trade education and training under the guidance of experienced professionals. This approach not only prepares students for immediate employment opportunities but also supports the long-term growth of the skilled trades sector in the area.
As the demand for skilled trades continues to rise, programs like this one play a crucial role in equipping the next generation with the necessary skills to succeed in their careers.
