WSFS Bank has solidified its commitment to Wilmington by renewing its long-term lease for its headquarters located at 500 Delaware Avenue. The bank also announced plans for a substantial renovation of its office space, aimed at fostering collaboration and supporting its growth strategy. This decision reinforces WSFS’s role in the community, where it has operated since its establishment over 190 years ago.
The headquarters, known as the WSFS Bank Center, has been the bank’s principal office since its construction in 2006 by the Buccini Pollin Group (BPG). Currently, WSFS occupies more than 74,000 square feet, which constitutes approximately 80% of the tower’s total space, housing nearly 300 employees.
In a statement regarding the renewal, Rodger Levenson, WSFS Chairman, President, and CEO, emphasized the bank’s long history in Wilmington. “We’re looking forward to continuing our legacy here and offering an upgraded office space for our Associates that’ll help us continue to be an employer of choice in the city for many more years to come,” he stated.
Modernization Efforts and Community Impact
The planned renovation aligns with broader initiatives to modernize workplace environments and enhance tenant experiences. BPG has already introduced several new amenities at the WSFS Bank Center, including a 24/7 fitness facility, a clubroom featuring a grab-and-go market, and a fully equipped conferencing center. Furthermore, in 2024, the building welcomed the BlueBird Café, which expanded the dining and catering options available on-site.
Chris Buccini, President of BPG, praised WSFS for its enduring presence in the community. “WSFS is a bedrock in our business community, and their continued commitment to anchor Wilmington’s only trophy office tower and commanding rooftop signage is further testament to their leadership,” he remarked.
Wilmington’s Mayor, John Carney, also expressed his support for the announcement, calling it a “strong and ongoing commitment to our city.” This renewal signals a positive trajectory for downtown Wilmington, highlighting the importance of WSFS Bank in the local economic landscape.
The renewed lease and the bank’s vision for a modernized workplace indicate WSFS’s intent to remain a foundational force in Wilmington’s business environment. With nearly two centuries of history in the city, WSFS Bank continues to demonstrate its dedication to the community it serves.
