A pancake breakfast event in Grand Forks aims to raise funds for a scholarship honoring the memory of **Andrew Seneker**, a University of North Dakota (UND) student who tragically lost his life in January after being struck by a reckless driver. The **Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1342** is organizing this event, with all proceeds directed towards establishing the **Andrew Seneker Scholarship**.
The breakfast is scheduled for **March 1, 2024**, from 08:00 to 12:00 at the **AVFlight Hanger**, located at **2403 Air Cargo Drive**. The gathering is open to the community, encouraging everyone to come together to celebrate the impact Seneker had during his time at UND.
Ishir Agarwal, a junior majoring in commercial aviation and president of the EAA chapter, emphasized Seneker’s deep involvement across various campus communities. “This pancake breakfast is dedicated to his memory and to the people that loved him and to the community he built,” Agarwal explained. “We’re celebrating his life and the fond memories we shared with him.”
Seneker was an active participant in numerous university programs, including student government, the aerobatics team, and the **aviation education student outreach program**. He also played a pivotal role in the **Young Eagles Program**, which fosters interest in aviation among young people. As the Young Eagles coordinator, Seneker organized workshops where fifth-grade students could engage with flight simulators and learn about potential aviation careers.
Agarwal noted that Seneker was in the process of planning the **Young Eagles Rally**, an event set for May where children would have the opportunity to experience flying for the first time at no cost. “He was incredibly passionate about that and excelled in his role,” Agarwal said. “He was beloved within the community.”
To commemorate Seneker’s legacy, his family initiated a memorial scholarship in his name. Agarwal believes the scholarship perfectly reflects Seneker’s dedication to helping future aviators. “He would have wanted future students to benefit in some way to ease their college experience. His enthusiasm for supporting others is exactly why we dedicated all the funds toward the scholarship,” Agarwal stated.
For those unable to attend the pancake breakfast, donations can also be made directly to the **Andrew Seneker Memorial Scholarship** via the University of North Dakota’s website. This initiative not only honors Seneker’s memory but also aims to uplift the next generation of aviation enthusiasts.
