The Sharon Hill Borough Police Department has arrested an 18-year-old man from Lansdowne in connection with a vandalism incident involving school district vehicles. The arrest follows an incident on August 5, 2025, when police responded to reports of significant damage at the Southeast Delco School District bus lot, located on the 1400 block of Chester Pike.
Investigators found that Joseph Bennett and a juvenile male allegedly broke into the bus lot and vandalized multiple school buses. The damage inflicted was substantial, prompting immediate action from law enforcement. Following the investigation, Bennett surrendered to police on August 14, 2025.
Bennett is scheduled to appear before Judge Forbes at the Darby District Court on September 3, 2025. He faces several charges, including theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, trespass by motor vehicle, and unauthorized use of automobiles and other vehicles. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the juvenile involved due to privacy laws concerning minors.
Police emphasize that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This incident has raised concerns within the community regarding the safety of school property and the potential consequences of such actions on local youth.
