A South Korean ferry carrying nearly 270 people ran aground on rocks off the country’s west coast on March 5, 2025. Fortunately, the coast guard reported no casualties or serious injuries among those onboard. The ferry was en route from Jeju Island to the southwestern port city of Mokpo when the incident occurred.
