PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department is actively investigating a series of armed robberies that took place late on July 30 and into the early hours of July 31, 2025. Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information regarding the two suspects involved in these incidents, which occurred in the city’s 3rd and 17th Police Districts.
The first robbery occurred at approximately 22:00 on the 1500 block of Catharine Street. A 68-year-old man reported being confronted by two armed individuals who demanded his belongings. One suspect allegedly brandished a black and silver handgun, threatening the victim before stealing $60 from his pocket. Both suspects fled the scene heading east on Fitzwater Street. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any injuries.
Less than an hour later, at 23:00, a second incident unfolded on the 1100 block of Ellsworth Street. A 31-year-old man riding his bicycle was approached by one of the suspects, who revealed a handgun while blocking the roadway and demanding the victim’s property. A second suspect remained nearby, acting as a lookout. After taking the victim’s backpack, which contained an iPhone, wallet, and $60, the suspects fled west on Ellsworth Street toward 12th Street. Although the backpack and most items were later recovered, the cash was missing.
The final robbery took place shortly after midnight on July 31, at 00:09, on the 1100 block of South Mole Street. A 26-year-old man was approached from behind by a male suspect who covered his mouth and demanded his wallet while displaying a handgun. The suspect returned the victim’s wallet after discovering it contained no cash and subsequently fled the scene. No injuries were reported in this incident either.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about these incidents or the suspects to contact the South Detective Division at 215-686-3013 or 215-686-3014. The police remind the community that all individuals charged in connection with a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
As the investigation continues, the Philadelphia Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety of its residents and apprehending those responsible for these alarming acts.
