Overnight Lane Closures on U.S. 1 for Line Striping Next Week

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will implement overnight lane closures on U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships for line striping from August 17 to August 22, 2023. The closures will take place in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange from 20:00 to 06:00.

This work is part of a larger $116 million reconstruction and widening project, aimed at improving traffic flow and safety. The project falls under the U.S. 1/RC2 contract, which includes rebuilding and widening the highway from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.

Drivers are advised to expect delays and plan for additional travel time during these hours. PennDOT emphasizes that the work is dependent on weather conditions, which may lead to changes in the schedule.

For real-time updates on traffic conditions and potential detours, motorists are encouraged to visit the MyChesCo Traffic Center. Staying informed will help avoid overnight delays and ensure a smoother travel experience.

As this significant project progresses, updates and further details will be made available through official channels.
