A chaotic scene unfolded in Newark, Delaware, on August 5, 2025, when an armed robbery escalated into a high-speed chase involving multiple vehicles and a crash that resulted in four arrests. The incident began at approximately 19:10 local time in the Village of Kent Apartment community, where police responded to reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers found several vehicles and buildings damaged by bullets, along with numerous shell casings scattered across the area. Preliminary investigations indicated that two individuals had arrived to purchase a gaming console when they were confronted by two armed suspects who attempted to rob them. Following the robbery, shots were fired, but fortunately, no injuries were reported from the gunfire.
Officers provided a description of the suspects’ vehicle — a black 2015 Dodge Charger — along with partial license plate details to other law enforcement agencies. At around 19:32, a Delaware State Trooper spotted the Charger speeding through Newark and initiated a pursuit. The chase concluded when the Charger collided with the rear of a white 2019 Toyota Highlander on South Chapel Street. The impact caused the Highlander to rotate into oncoming traffic, strike a curb and mailbox, and ultimately roll over before coming to rest off the roadway. The 18-year-old driver of the Highlander was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Following the crash, the occupants of the Dodge Charger fled on foot into a nearby farm field but were apprehended shortly thereafter by responding officers. During the investigation, multiple firearms were recovered.
