Mossad-Linked Account Claims Khamenei Spends Days Drugged and Sleeping

A recent post from a social media account linked to the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, has made startling claims about Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The account alleges that Khamenei spends much of his time sleeping and using drugs, raising questions about his capability to lead the nation effectively. The statement, which appeared on a newly launched premium X account, questioned how a leader can fulfill their responsibilities while allegedly indulging in such behavior.

The Farsi-language account claims to represent Mossad, focusing on trolling the Iranian regime with provocative posts. “Using drugs and speaking to spirits are not appropriate traits for someone leading a nation,” the account stated recently. Although this style of communication diverges from Mossad’s traditional methods, experts have indicated the account’s authenticity.

Zvi Yehezkeli, an Arab affairs commentator for i24News, noted that the social media account is a novel tool in the intelligence community’s approach, particularly in Iran, where public sentiment has soured against the regime. “Iranians have become so disillusioned with the regime,” he said, suggesting that Mossad’s tactics may adapt to the local context. Another expert, Beny Sabti, from Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies, echoed this sentiment, affirming that some of the information shared by the account appears to have originated from Mossad.

Allegations regarding Khamenei’s drug use are not entirely new. In a 2022 interview on a television channel linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, academic Nour Mohamed Omara claimed that Khamenei regularly uses drugs and cited a specific location in Balochistan where the drugs are produced under the supervision of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. “Many viewers do not know this, but Khamenei himself uses drugs,” Omara stated, adding that access to this site is heavily restricted.

This situation is particularly ironic given that Khamenei has publicly condemned drug use, especially opium, as “un-Islamic” since the 1979 Iranian Revolution. The Islamic Republic enforces severe penalties for drug-related offenses, with some resulting in the death penalty.

While the claims about Khamenei’s alleged drug use and the social media account’s assertions have sparked significant discussion, Mossad has not officially confirmed or denied either aspect. The situation reflects ongoing tensions within Iran and the complexities of international intelligence operations in the region.

As the narrative unfolds, it highlights the intersection of social media, public perception, and intelligence tactics in one of the world’s most scrutinized political landscapes.
