The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced lane closures on several key roads in Philadelphia next week as part of an extensive resurfacing initiative. Beginning on August 25 and continuing through August 28, the project aims to enhance over 200 miles of state highway across the five-county region.
On Veree Road, nightly lane closures will be in effect from 20:00 to 06:00 between Bustleton Avenue and Oxford Avenue. These closures are necessary for paving operations. Meanwhile, Rising Sun Avenue will see daytime lane closures from 09:00 to 15:00 between Cottman Avenue and U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) for necessary inlet and manhole repairs.
In addition, Kelly Drive will also experience daytime lane closures from 09:00 to 15:00 between 25th Street and Ridge Avenue. As with other projects, these repairs focus on improving roadway conditions and ensuring safer travel for motorists.
Motorists are advised to anticipate delays and consider alternate routes when traveling through the affected areas. PennDOT emphasizes the importance of planning for extra travel time. It is also worth noting that all scheduled activities are subject to weather conditions.
This resurfacing initiative is part of a larger effort to mill, repair, and repave state highways with new asphalt pavement, which is designed to increase roadway durability and provide drivers with a smoother, safer driving experience.
