Anthony Joshua Survives Car Crash in Nigeria, Two Killed

British heavyweight boxer and Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua was involved in a car accident on Monday morning in Nigeria, which tragically resulted in the deaths of two individuals. The crash occurred around 11 a.m. local time on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Makun, located in Ogun State, a region in the southwestern part of Nigeria.

According to the Ogun State Police Command, Joshua was a passenger in a Lexus SUV at the time of the incident. Authorities reported that the circumstances surrounding the crash are currently under investigation. Joshua, 36, was seated in the rear of the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. He is receiving medical attention and is expected to recover fully.

The accident has drawn significant attention, particularly because of Joshua’s high-profile status in the boxing world. He gained international fame by winning the superheavyweight gold medal for Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics. More recently, he garnered interest in the American audience following his decisive victory over social media star-turned boxer Jake Paul on December 20, 2023. That match, available on Netflix, attracted approximately 33 million viewers.

The loss of two lives in the accident has shocked the boxing community and fans alike. Police have not yet released further details regarding the deceased individuals or the exact cause of the crash. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to uncover more information about the events leading up to the incident.

As this story continues to develop, updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
