Women’s Professional Baseball League Announces Four Cities for Inaugural Season

BREAKING: The Women’s Professional Baseball League (WPBL) has officially selected New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco as the cities representing its four teams for the league’s inaugural season, slated to kick off in 2026. This groundbreaking announcement was made Tuesday, marking a pivotal moment for women’s sports as the WPBL seeks to revive professional women’s baseball since the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League folded in 1954.

The WPBL, co-founded by Justine Siegal, the first woman to coach for an MLB team, is set to launch a six-team circuit that will feature a regular season, playoffs, and an all-star game. The league’s shift to an initial four-team format will include 15 players per club, all chosen from a draft featuring the top 100 players from WPBL’s summer tryouts. This draft, taking place next month, will showcase prominent talents, including former Little League sensation Mo’ne Davis and USA baseball’s Kelsie Whitmore.

“We are thrilled to bring women’s professional baseball back to the forefront,” Siegal stated in a release. “Each of these cities are storied sports cities, and we can’t wait to connect with the fans who live there and baseball fans across the country.”

The league has yet to announce the neutral venue where all games will be played, but authorities emphasize that the selected cities were chosen based on their significant market size and dedicated fanbases. The excitement surrounding the WPBL is palpable, as advocates for women’s sports look forward to the league’s debut.

Fans and aspiring players alike are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates, including the details of the upcoming draft and the announcement of the game venue. The WPBL’s mission to uplift women in baseball is set to make history, and the anticipation is building as the league gears up for its first season.

Follow this developing story for real-time updates on the WPBL as it prepares to change the landscape of women’s sports forever. This is a moment that sports fans won’t want to miss!
