UPDATE: A 38-year-old woman was stabbed in an unprovoked attack at the Macy’s flagship location in New York City this afternoon, prompting an immediate police response. The incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. on the seventh floor of the renowned store located at Herald Square.
Police have arrested Kerri Aherne, a 43-year-old woman from Massachusetts, who now faces serious charges including attempted murder, assault with a weapon, and criminal possession of a weapon. Officers arriving at the scene discovered the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to her back and a cut on her right arm. She was swiftly transported to a local hospital, where she is currently reported to be in stable condition.
This shocking incident marks the second violent attack inside the iconic department store in less than a month, raising alarms about safety in public spaces. On November 19, a 71-year-old man was also assaulted inside Macy’s when Donna Francis, aged 65, attacked him from behind with an object, believed to be a cell phone. He suffered deep internal bruising and required medical attention.
