The Wizards’ latest jerseys feature a striking blend of black and gold, with a prominent black stripe running through the middle and a white stripe above “Washington” across the chest. This design element pays homage to the Wizards’ 2021 “mixtape” City Edition look, as confirmed by the team’s senior vice president of marketing, Rebecca Winn.
Winn stated, “When Nike directed us to ‘remix’ a former City Edition, we immediately thought of the classic Wizards uniform first worn in 2006.” The jerseys also showcase a silhouette of the Washington Monument inside the word “Washington,” enhancing the local pride embodied in these uniforms.
The revamped design doesn’t stop there. The belt buckle features a modernized Wizards logo, while a unique DMV insignia, representing the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area, appears on the left side of the shorts. This is a significant nod, as the 2021 uniform marked the first time “DMV” was featured on a D.C.-area sports team’s gear.
