UPDATE: A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Seattle area, with gusts expected to reach 40 to 50 mph through 10 a.m. Sunday. Residents in the Cascade foothills and nearby communities, including Monroe, Gold Bar, Enumclaw, North Bend, and Eatonville, are urged to stay alert as rogue gusts could bring down limbs and cause power outages.
Authorities report scattered rain across western Washington today, with highs peaking in the mid to upper 40s under dreary skies. A winter weather advisory remains active for the eastern slopes of Snoqualmie Pass until 10 p.m. tonight, where 4 to 8 inches of snow is anticipated. Earlier, a mix of rain and snow was noted in Southwest Washington, but no significant impacts were reported.
The National Weather Service warns that residents should limit outdoor activities during the advisory period, as strong winds could create hazardous conditions. Similar advisories are in place for the Central and North Coast of Washington, where gusts may also reach up to 50 mph.
Looking ahead, Sunday morning will begin cool and cloudy, with occasional showers expected. Afternoon highs will rise to the upper 40s to low 50s, accompanied by possible sunbreaks and periods of heavier rain. The forecast for Monday suggests darker, drenching conditions with heavy mountain snow likely.
Meteorologist Abby Acone from FOX 13 emphasizes the importance of staying informed as conditions may change rapidly. “These winds can be unpredictable and dangerous,” she stated. “Stay indoors if possible, and prepare for potential power outages.”
As we move into next week, lighter showers are expected on Tuesday, with isolated showers continuing Wednesday and Thursday. Friday may bring drier conditions, but temperatures will generally remain in the upper 40s to low 50s.
