The investigation began after school officials reported Melodee’s prolonged absence on October 14. Concerned about her well-being, they contacted local authorities when she failed to participate in her remote study program. Detectives quickly discovered that the last confirmed sighting of Melodee was in Lompoc back in August, prior to her disappearance.
In a shocking twist, Ashlee Buzzard, 40, was arrested on October 13 on charges of false imprisonment, although authorities state this incident is not directly linked to her daughter’s case.
