URGENT UPDATE: Over 44,000 NordicTrack RW900 rowing machines are being recalled due to a serious safety hazard. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced this alarming recall on October 16, 2025, after confirming that the machine’s screen console can overheat and, in some instances, ignite.
The recall affects rowing machines sold between 2018 and 2022 at major retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. This issue has led to eight reported incidents, including six cases of smoke emission or melting screens, and two where the machines caught fire. Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries; however, property damage is estimated to be at least $6,000.
Affected models are identified by the serial numbers ranging from NTRW19147.0 to NTRW19147.3, found on a sticker near the base of the machine. If you own one of these models, it’s imperative to stop using it immediately and take action.
NordicTrack, a subsidiary of iFIT Inc., is offering a free home repair service, but only their trained technicians are authorized to perform the fix. Users cannot attempt to repair it themselves, so contacting NordicTrack is essential. You can schedule the repair by visiting their website or calling 833-680-4348.
This recall is not the first for NordicTrack. In 2024, the company faced scrutiny over malfunctioning smart dumbbells that would respond to voice commands—until they unexpectedly stopped working. The ongoing issues with NordicTrack equipment highlight a troubling trend in the fitness industry, where consumers expect reliable performance.
As this story develops, it remains crucial for users of the NordicTrack RW900 rowing machines to remain vigilant. Stay tuned for further updates on the situation and ensure your safety by addressing this recall immediately. Share this information to help others who may be affected!
