In a significant case, a larceny from a motor vehicle was reported in the 400 block of Park Avenue between 6 p.m. on January 23 and 10:25 a.m. on January 28, with an estimated loss of $10. Shoplifting was also reported at 10:42 a.m. on January 28 in the 100 block of Mahaley Avenue, where the estimated loss was $8.
Additionally, authorities reported a troubling incident of possession of marijuana in the 500 block of East Innes Street at 12:39 p.m. on January 28. Trespassing incidents have been noted as well, with one occurring in the 300 block of South Arlington Street at 6:53 p.m. on January 26 and another in the 600 block of Mocksville Avenue at 1:50 a.m. on January 29.
In a related development, Julia Elizabeth Clawson, aged 35, was charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle and felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance on January 28. This arrest underscores the serious nature of recent criminal activity in the area.
