URGENT UPDATE: Police in Hialeah, Florida are actively investigating a possible abduction captured on surveillance video in broad daylight on January 1, 2023. The incident unfolded at approximately 6:45 a.m. outside the Lake Condominium apartment building, located near West 27th Avenue and 52nd Street.
Authorities report that a concerned citizen called 911 after witnessing what appeared to be an abduction. Surveillance footage corroborates this alarming account, showing a man in all black near a modified white Ford F-150 and a woman wearing a gray sweatshirt and khaki sweatpants. In a chilling still image, the man is seen forcing the woman into the truck, which features distinctive black rims.
Investigators believe this incident is not random and that the man and woman are known to each other, according to local news reports from WPLG. The man is described as white and approximately five-foot-seven, while the woman has long black hair and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, khaki sweatpants, and black sandals.
As of Thursday, no missing persons report matching the woman’s description has been filed, complicating the investigation further. Police have emphasized that their primary concern is the woman’s safety.
“Our detectives are working diligently to locate her as quickly as possible to verify her safety,” a police spokesperson stated.
Residents of the Lake Condominiums expressed shock over the incident. Brian Sanz, the 27-year-old son of the building manager, stated, “I do not recognize the people in the surveillance photos… This is a chill neighborhood. We have not even had any break-ins at apartments.”
Another resident reported hearing screams that morning, recalling, “I heard her say ‘no.’ This place has been really quiet for years.” Another witness, identified as the woman’s partner, expressed concern, stating, “These are not the sort of things we are used to seeing in this community.”
Police have labeled the case as a “suspicious incident.” Anyone with information about the man, the woman, or the vehicle is urged to contact the Hialeah Police Department at 305-687-2525 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
