Gene was born on August 27, 1940, to Lawrence and Kathryn Johnson in Charles City. He married Christina “Chris” Emerson on November 26, 1966, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, forming a partnership that was the center of his life. Following Chris’s passing, Gene continued to honor her memory by staying active and involved in his community.
In his professional life, Gene served as a mechanic at Bissonnette’s Chevrolet and later as a truck driver for Anthony Bill Trucking. He also contributed to the community as a member of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Reserves, demonstrating his commitment to service.
Gene was passionate about the outdoors, engaging in activities like hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. His love for nature mirrored his love for family, as he cherished every moment spent with his wife and children.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the day of the service, allowing friends and community members to pay their respects. Gene’s legacy will continue through the stories shared by his family and friends, who remember him as a man of great kindness and dedication.
