Urgent Events This Week: St. David’s Day Banquet, Art Exhibit & More

UPDATE: Luzerne County is buzzing with exciting events this week, starting with the 147th annual St. David’s Day Banquet today at 4 p.m. at the Westmoreland Club in Wilkes-Barre. Tickets are selling fast at $50 each and $150 for patron tickets for two. Join the celebration featuring a delightful dinner, open bar, and live entertainment!

In addition, don’t miss the 44th Annual Suzanne Maria Rossetti Memorial Juried Art Exhibit from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the Schulman Gallery, Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke. An awards ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. in the James T. Atherton Gymnasium, presenting nearly $10,000 in community-sponsored awards to talented students in grades 7–12.

Looking ahead, the Keystone State Literacy Association is hosting a special Reading Day on March 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Boscov’s in Wilkes-Barre. This family-friendly event will feature story times, crafts, and free books for the first 50 children. The Cat in the Hat will be making a special appearance, along with a magic act by Cosmic Glen at 1 p.m.!

Moreover, the Alhamar Caravan No. 4 is gearing up for a Spring Dinner Dance on March 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fox Hill Country Club. Reservations are due by March 11, with attendance priced at $35 per guest. This event supports Special Olympics bowlers and promises a night of fun with DJ entertainment.

Don’t forget the quarterly luncheon for the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees on March 19, featuring State Rep. Alex Ryncavage as the guest speaker. RSVP by March 10 to enjoy a buffet while connecting with fellow retirees.

Mark your calendars for the 2026 Dinner and Auction hosted by the North Branch Land Trust at the Westmoreland Club on March 25. This event invites community members, conservation advocates, and business leaders to gather for a cause.

Literature enthusiasts should not miss the Allan Hamilton Dickson Spring Writers Series, featuring acclaimed author Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah on March 25 at 7 p.m. at Wilkes University. His celebrated debut novel, Chain-Gang All-Stars, has received numerous accolades and is sure to inspire attendees.

The 75th Annual Irem Shrine Circus is set to entertain families from April 6 to April 12 at the Kingston Armory, so be sure to secure advance tickets for this time-honored tradition.
