JUST ANNOUNCED: The Buffalo Underdogs Rescue is hosting BUR Fest 2025 today starting at 3:30 p.m. at Buffalo Iron Works, located at 78 Illinois St.. Attendees can enjoy live performances from three bands, participate in a basket raffle featuring a signed jersey from Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox, and support a great cause. Tickets are available for $15 in advance at givebutter.com/BURFest2025.
In conjunction with Sloan’s village-wide garage sale, the Frank I. Gierlach American Legion Post will hold a basket raffle and hot dog sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at 50 Gates Ave. Shoppers can find furniture, jewelry, books, and clothes at the Roanchar Ranch Draft Horse Rescue garage sale at 34 Argyle Ave., Eggertsville, running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and continuing with more items next Friday and August 30.
Don’t miss the Ukrainian Cultural Center Dnipro‘s celebration of the 34th anniversary of Ukrainian independence this Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 562 Genesee St. Enjoy traditional food, music, dance performances, craft vendors, and children’s activities—all with free admission. In a spooky twist, Frightworld is gearing up for the upcoming Halloween season and needs over 175 actors and staff. Auditions are being held today from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 1001 Hertel Ave.. Those interested should be 18 or older and can send makeup portfolios to [email protected].
Also happening this weekend, the Wild Wing Festival returns on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gooseneck Hill Waterfowl Sanctuary, located at 5067 Townline Road, Delevan. The festival will showcase 78 species of birds, a giant rubber duck, live music from the Rustic Ramblers, and opportunities to feed geese and koi fish. Admission is $10, with discounts for children under 12.
