URGENT UPDATE: Exciting cultural events are set to ignite Fallon this month, featuring renowned artists and local authors. Mark your calendars for January 23, 2024, as acclaimed artist Patrick Kikut hosts a gallery reception at the Oats Park Art Center, starting at 5 p.m.. Kikut, who has spent over 35 years capturing the essence of landscapes across the American West, will showcase his latest work and discuss the changing environments that inspire him.
Just a day later, on January 24, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., His Inspirations at 200 S. Maine St. will feature a book signing event with four local authors. Among them, Robert Kahn will present “Bobby and Mandee’s Street Smart,” a guide on pedestrian safety. Bill Slentz will showcase his illustrated book “Arnold A. Airplane,” while Aaron McBride shares personal reflections in “When the Desert Bloom.” Additionally, a compilation titled “Legacies of the Silver State,” featuring stories of World War II veterans by local journalists Ken Beaton, Steve Ranson, and David C. Henley, will also be available.
The excitement continues with the Young Chautauqua Program at the Churchill County Museum, kicking off on February 4, 2024. Designed for youth ages 12-18, the program runs every Wednesday through April 18, from 3:30 to 5 p.m.. Participants will engage in creating and performing monologues based on historical figures, guided by instructor Glen Perazzo and museum staff.
Adding to the cultural landscape, Scottish singer Julie Fowlis, a celebrated artist and 2023 Musician of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards, will perform at the Barkley Theatre on February 7, 2024. Known for her enchanting voice and contributions to the Disney Pixar film “Brave,” Fowlis promises an unforgettable evening.
