UPDATE: Renowned artist Tyler Stout has just unveiled a stunning new poster for the classic film Frankenstein, set to debut at two major exhibitions in Austin, Texas, and Los Angeles, California. This exclusive release is part of a larger celebration of the iconic Universal Monsters, and fans can expect to see it for the first time on October 24, 2023, in Austin, and October 23, 2023, in Los Angeles.
The poster is a colossal 24 x 72-inch print, designed to capture the massive presence of the iconic monster. Stout’s work, which has played a crucial role in popularizing alternate movie posters, will be available for $120 in a limited edition of just 300 prints. Additionally, exclusive variants will be offered at the Austin show for attendees, with another version to be revealed at a future convention.
Coda and Sideshow have organized these simultaneous exhibitions, turning them into a must-see mega event for movie poster enthusiasts. The Los Angeles event is hosted at Celebrity Authentics at Universal Citywalk, running from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, October 23, and will remain on display until November 2. In contrast, the Austin showcase at Canopy Gallery will kick off on October 24 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will conclude on October 26.
Coda co-founder Rob Jones praised Stout’s work, stating, “His dense servings of characters, their relationships, and the pressures that act upon them remain unlike any other artist’s approach.” Stout’s unique portrayal is inspired by the Jack Davis ‘Life Size Frankenstein’ poster from his childhood, creatively divided into two sheets for enhanced visual impact.
Fans should not miss this opportunity, as the exhibitions feature an array of original art and screen-printed posters from various artists, all centered around the Universal Monsters theme. Each venue will showcase unique works, making this a rare chance to collect pieces that may not be available elsewhere.
For those unable to attend, leftover prints will be available online starting in November, with details set to emerge on codacurates.com and Sideshow’s website.
Don’t wait—mark your calendars and prepare to join the celebration of horror cinema’s most beloved monsters!
