Trump’s 2026 Election Strategy Sparks Urgent Alarm from Lawyer

UPDATE: Constitutional lawyer David French has issued a stark warning regarding former President Donald Trump’s potential plans to unlawfully influence the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. In a provocative op-ed published on October 15, 2023, in The New York Times, French emphasizes the serious threat posed by a president who disregards the law and commands a loyal Congress backed by a radicalized voter base.

French warns that many Americans remain alarmingly complacent amid a looming crisis. “I fear that millions of citizens are still too complacent. They aren’t aware of the peril we face,” he cautioned. His comments come on the heels of troubling developments that suggest Trump is actively trying to manipulate electoral outcomes.

Highlighting the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot, French argues that Trump’s persistent false claims about the 2020 election being “rigged” are setting a dangerous precedent. “This is not just a fire drill. It’s an alarm that should be ringing across the country,” he stated, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

Recent actions have intensified these concerns. French pointed to the FBI’s raid on a Georgia election center, which has raised significant alarm, particularly regarding the involvement of Tulsi Gabbard, Trump’s former director of national intelligence. This incident signals a potentially alarming trend in election interference.

Moreover, French warns that Trump’s mass deportation operations could suppress voter turnout, particularly among nonwhite Americans. “By instilling fear, he can deter his enemies from coming to the polls,” he asserts, indicating that this strategy could be an effective means of influencing election results without overtly rigging the vote count.

French also addresses Trump’s continued dissemination of conspiracy theories, such as his recent claims that Italian satellites hacked into American voting machines. Such rhetoric not only misleads the public but also fuels division and distrust in the electoral process.

As French outlines, the potential for Trump to sway the next election is significant. “Consider this a warning. Trump isn’t just trying to ‘stop the steal’ again; another kind of theft might already be underway,” he warns.

As fears mount, it’s critical for citizens to remain vigilant and engaged. French’s powerful call to action serves as a reminder that the upcoming elections could be more contentious than ever, and it is imperative for voters to be aware of the threats that could undermine their democratic rights.

With the 2026 elections on the horizon, it is essential that Americans confront the reality of potential manipulation and stay informed about ongoing developments. The future of democracy may hinge on collective awareness and action in the face of these alarming trends.
