URGENT UPDATE: All three children involved in a violent crash following a police chase in Malibu are now out of the hospital. The incident unfolded on July 14, 2023, when a carjacker stole a vehicle containing the children, aged under 10, while their mother briefly stepped into a nearby 7-Eleven.
Authorities report that as the mother left the engine running, the suspect jumped into her car with her three kids inside, including a 2-year-old in a car seat. The children’s father, parked next to the vehicle, attempted to intervene, resulting in him being dragged by the fleeing suspect, sustaining injuries to his upper body.
The thrilling chase culminated in a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Kanan Dume Road. After the crash, the suspect fled on foot, only to be apprehended later by California Highway Patrol officers. The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and formal charges are pending. Their identity has not yet been disclosed.
