UPDATE: A significant lawsuit has been filed against Glenn Hamer, the president and CEO of the Texas Association of Business, alleging sexual assault and harassment. The suit, filed on November 24, 2025, claims that Hamer retaliated against an unnamed woman, referred to as “Jane Doe,” after she rejected his advances.
The woman, who is described as the founder of the Texas Venture Alliance, seeks over $10 million in damages. According to the lawsuit, Hamer exploited his influential position to pursue her, promising to aid her organization’s growth while allegedly engaging in a pattern of coercive behavior. The lawsuit claims that Hamer harassed and assaulted her multiple times, including a disturbing incident in May where he attempted to remove her pants.
In response to the lawsuit, Bill Jones, Chair of the TAB Board of Directors, announced that Hamer has been placed on administrative leave as the organization conducts a thorough internal investigation. Megan Mauro, TAB’s vice president and chief of staff, has stepped in as interim CEO.
The complaint paints Hamer as part of a troubling trend of “unscrupulous men in power” misusing their status to exploit vulnerable individuals. In the court filing, the alleged victim’s legal team asserts, “When she at some point refused his advances, he coerced, begged, harassed and ultimately assaulted her.”
Hamer’s alleged misconduct extends beyond personal harassment; the lawsuit claims he orchestrated a smear campaign against the woman, attempting to damage her reputation and impede her professional progress after she rejected him. The filing details a pattern of intimidation, including stalking and harassment at public events.
Legal experts point out that this case could have significant implications given Hamer’s stature in Texas politics, frequently appearing alongside state leaders such as Gov. Greg Abbott. Just last week, he moderated a discussion with Abbott on Texas’ economic future.
The allegations come amidst a broader discourse on sexual misconduct in political circles, echoing past incidents that have shaken the Texas Capitol, including the resignation of Rep. Bryan Slaton in 2023 due to similar allegations.
As this situation develops, public attention will likely center on the internal investigation by the Texas Association of Business and the potential ramifications for Hamer’s career and the organization itself. The case underscores the urgent need for accountability and reform in environments where power dynamics can lead to abuse.
