UPDATE: A tech enthusiast’s recent experiment has taken a frustrating turn as he swaps a top-tier RTX 3060 Ti graphics card for the outdated Intel UHD Graphics 770. In a surprising self-imposed challenge, he discovered the limitations of integrated graphics, leading to subpar performance in gaming and demanding applications.
The experiment, launched earlier this month, aimed to assess whether integrated graphics could sustain daily computing tasks. The individual, using a Intel Core i9-12900K and a Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Pro motherboard, quickly found that while day-to-day tasks like video calls and writing were manageable, gaming and intensive applications like Adobe Lightroom became nearly impossible.
Initially, the integrated graphics handled basic tasks without a hitch. The enthusiast noted that even graphics-accelerated programs like Canva Web performed adequately, allowing him to create complex posters. However, the excitement faded rapidly once gaming began. The top-down shooter Escape From Duckov struggled to maintain more than 44 FPS at 1080p on low settings, while Insurgency: Sandstorm plummeted to an unacceptable 28 FPS.
The stark contrast was evident when compared to the RTX 3060 Ti, which delivered a stunning 122 FPS in Escape From Duckov and an impressive 139 FPS in Insurgency: Sandstorm.
