URGENT UPDATE: A tense standoff is unfolding in Jefferson Park, Los Angeles as a suspect barricades himself inside a home following the discovery of a deceased individual in the front yard. Authorities have confirmed that the situation began around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday when police responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of 23rd Street and Arlington Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found a victim lying in the yard with a fatal gunshot wound. As they approached the scene, the suspect fired at the officers from inside the residence, prompting an immediate tactical response from the LAPD. Fortunately, no officers were injured in the exchange.
