UPDATE: Students at Chico State University are taking a much-needed break from finals stress during a cozy gathering at the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center on December 9, 2025. The event, designed to provide a relaxing atmosphere, features students decorating quilt squares while enjoying warm bowls of ramen.
With finals week now in full swing, many students are feeling the pressure. The Cross-Cultural Leadership Center’s program coordinator, Jojo Carranza, emphasized the importance of this event. “We’re kind of having a destress day,” Carranza stated. “Finals are coming up, so we thought something nice, warm, and cozy to eat would be cool, along with a little creative crafting to help ease the mind.”
Students like Kesar Mann and Kalpit Sharma are fully engaged, making their ramen bowls while personalizing quilt tiles. Each participant selects a color and uses art supplies to decorate their squares, which will be tied together as a community project.
This gathering is part of a series of events hosted by the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center throughout the academic year. Carranza highlighted the center’s mission: “What we like to do is bring students together. We want to help build connections and create a sense of culture within our community. Our goal is to ensure everyone feels included and has a home away from home.”
As finals loom, this event not only provides nourishment but also fosters a supportive community, helping students recharge before tackling their exams. The creative and social aspects serve as a reminder of the importance of mental well-being during stressful times.
Students looking for relief and camaraderie during finals week are encouraged to participate in upcoming events, as the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center continues to support the student body through this challenging period.
