UPDATE: A South Euclid man was arrested for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) following a hit-and-run crash on December 3 in Lyndhurst. The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. on Mayfield Road in front of Walgreens, sparking urgent police action.
According to authorities, the driver of a GMC Acadia reported that the other driver, who fled the scene in a white Toyota, exhibited signs of intoxication. Police swiftly located the suspect at 1443 Richmond Road, where he was found to be under the influence. Upon refusal to take a breath test, the man, aged 47, was taken into custody for OVI and hit-skip.
This alarming incident highlights the dangers of impaired driving, with many community members expressing concern over road safety.
In a separate incident, police responded to a concerning psychiatric situation on Kilbourne Drive at 11:45 a.m. on December 2. Emergency communications received a call in which a woman urged her husband to “Put the gun down.” Officers arrived at the scene and transported the 51-year-old man to MetroHealth Hospital for evaluation, emphasizing the critical nature of mental health interventions.
In other local news, theft and fraud incidents have been reported recently. On December 6, loss prevention at L.L. Bean identified a suspect in a theft of merchandise valued at $1,020 from a prior incident on November 29. Authorities are still investigating the matter.
Additionally, fraudulent checks totaling $931.64 were reported by a representative of The Makeup Institute on December 1. The investigation is ongoing.
Police also handled a disturbance on Kenton Circle on December 4, where a 56-year-old woman requested assistance with her intoxicated husband, who was resistant to police intervention.
Lastly, on December 5, three juveniles attempted to steal from Dick’s Sporting Goods but were apprehended without charges.
