Sister of Timberwolves Player Fatally Shot by Boyfriend in NJ

URGENT UPDATE: A tragic incident has unfolded in Jackson, New Jersey, where Toraya Reid, sister of Minnesota Timberwolves player Naz Reid, was fatally shot by her boyfriend, Shaquille Green, who now faces murder charges. The shooting occurred at the Paragon apartment complex around 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023, triggering a swift police response.

Authorities report that upon arrival, they found the 28-year-old victim unresponsive near the complex’s exit, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer confirmed the details, stating that Green, 29, was seen fleeing the scene but was apprehended shortly thereafter without incident.

Green has been charged with murder and two additional weapons offenses. Billhimer noted that the couple had been in “a dating relationship,” but no further details were disclosed. As of Monday, Green remains incarcerated, with prosecutors unsure if he has secured legal representation.

This shocking event casts a shadow over the Timberwolves organization, as Naz Reid, who is just beginning his seventh season with the team, recently signed a five-year contract and earned the title of NBA’s “Sixth Man of the Year” for the 2023-2024 season.

The community of Jackson, located about 31 miles northeast of Philadelphia, is grappling with the aftermath of this violent act, leaving many in shock and mourning. Reid’s agents have not yet commented on the situation.

As this story develops, more details will emerge about the relationship between Reid and Green, and the broader implications for both families involved. Stay tuned for updates on this tragic incident that resonates deeply within the basketball community and beyond.
