UPDATE: SilverSummit Healthplan has just announced a groundbreaking investment of $650,000 aimed at enhancing healthcare in rural Nevada. This urgent initiative comes as the state expands its Medicaid Managed Care program, now reaching underserved rural communities for the first time.
Effective January 1, 2023, this expansion is a game-changer for tens of thousands of residents who will now receive comprehensive healthcare services through a Managed Care Organization (MCO). SilverSummit’s substantial investment will benefit 13 critical access hospitals and rural health clinics, including the vital Desert View Hospital in Pahrump. Each facility will receive $25,000 in 2025 and 2026 to bolster infrastructure and workforce capacity.
“This funding is crucial for us to continue delivering exceptional, patient-centered care,” stated Sarah Fox, Chief Operating Officer of SilverSummit Healthplan. “We aim to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Nevada while ensuring our providers can reach more individuals.”
The funding will support various needs from transportation improvements to updated imaging equipment, highlighting SilverSummit’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access in rural areas. The other facilities benefiting from this investment include Banner Churchill Community Hospital, Battle Mountain General Hospital, and Carson Valley Health, among others.
In Pahrump, Desert View Hospital is directing its share of the funding towards educational and training programs, an initiative driven by staff requests. “A strong, committed workforce is essential for meeting our community’s healthcare needs,” said Ryan Muccio, the hospital’s Marketing and Outreach Coordinator. “This investment will help us attract and retain staff, ensuring we continue to serve our community effectively.”
SilverSummit’s investment is part of a broader effort, with over $23 million already invested in community healthcare since 2022. This latest funding marks a significant milestone in the mission to enhance healthcare services across Nevada.
As the Medicaid Managed Care program rolls out statewide, it is crucial for residents to understand how this change will impact them. Residents enrolled in Medicaid will now access services through a network of doctors and providers, ensuring reliable healthcare coordination and management.
SilverSummit Healthplan continues to lead the way in providing necessary resources to rural healthcare providers, reinforcing their commitment to ensuring every Nevadan has access to critical health services. For further information, visit SilverSummitHealthPlan.com.
