UPDATE: Sacramento’s vibrant coffee scene is about to get a flavorful boost with the upcoming launch of Abuela’s Midtown, set to open on K Street in just two weeks. This unique coffee shop will serve specialty coffees infused with a distinct Mexican flair, along with homestyle dishes inspired by cherished family recipes.
Manager Oscar Escobar emphasizes that Abuela’s Midtown is not just another café; it’s a heartfelt tribute to Mexican culinary traditions. “We want to share those dishes that we enjoyed while growing up,” Escobar stated, highlighting their commitment to authenticity. The café promises to serve the city’s “best chilaquiles,” a beloved breakfast favorite, as part of its menu.
The coffee shop will be located adjacent to their established restaurant, Cantina Alley, which has been a staple in the area for about eight years. Abuela’s Midtown aims to create a community hub that blends coffee, culture, and the warmth of family. Escobar noted, “We’re in a beautiful Victorian building that’s over 100 years old, and we’re featuring family, and showcasing family.”
Although the official opening is scheduled for two weeks from now, the team plans to host community pop-ups starting next week, allowing residents a sneak peek of the exciting offerings. This initiative reflects their dedication to engaging with the local community and celebrating Mexican heritage through food and coffee.
With the addition of Abuela’s Midtown, Sacramento continues to enhance its already booming coffee culture, joining popular spots like Bot Bar Coffee and Con Azucar Café, which opened earlier this year. This new café not only enriches the culinary landscape but also reinforces the importance of family traditions in dining experiences.
Stay tuned for updates as Abuela’s Midtown prepares to open its doors, inviting everyone to enjoy a taste of home with every cup of coffee.
