Ryan Weiss Signs $2.6M Deal with Astros, MLB Debut Imminent

BREAKING: Former Korea Baseball Organization pitcher Ryan Weiss has officially signed a $2.6 million contract with the Houston Astros. Sources confirm this deal is pending a physical and includes an option for 2027, potentially allowing Weiss to earn over $10 million across two years.

Weiss, 28, is set to make his MLB debut next season after a standout performance in the KBO where he posted a remarkable record of 16-5 with a 2.87 ERA in 30 starts last year. His impressive statistics have attracted significant interest, with at least six MLB teams vying for his skills this off-season.

The Astros are in urgent need of pitching depth, especially with ace Framber Valdez hitting free agency and uncertain about his return. Weiss’s addition could be pivotal for a rotation looking to solidify its future. He brings a diverse pitching arsenal, featuring a fastball, curveball, and change-up, all refined during his time in Korea. Recently, he introduced a kick change that has drawn favorable attention from major league scouts.

Despite interest from the Hanwha Eagles to retain him for the upcoming season, Weiss opted to join the Astros, signaling his ambition to compete at the highest level. As the MLB offseason heats up, this move underscores the Astros’ commitment to enhancing their roster.

Fans and analysts alike are eagerly anticipating Weiss’s performance in the upcoming season, with many discussing his potential impact on the Astros’ pitching staff. As the team navigates free agency, Weiss’s arrival is a critical development, injecting new energy and hope into the Astros’ ambitions.

Stay tuned for further updates as Weiss prepares to take the mound for the Houston Astros, marking a new chapter in his baseball career.
