Robbie Lawler Joins XFC Board, Advises Fighters on Careers

BREAKING: Former UFC champion Robbie Lawler has just joined the board of directors of Xtreme One Entertainment, Inc., as confirmed by company officials to ESPN today. This strategic move positions Lawler to advise Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC) fighters on critical aspects of their careers, including branding and media management.

Lawler, who retired from the UFC in 2023, aims to leverage his extensive experience in mixed martial arts to help young athletes navigate their professional paths. “This is a way for me to stay involved in the sport and help provide a path to the biggest shows for young athletes,” Lawler stated. His commitment goes beyond just preparing fighters for the UFC; he emphasizes the importance of ensuring they thrive once they arrive.

The announcement comes amidst significant changes at Xtreme One Entertainment, which is focused on rebuilding after a recent SEC judgment against its former CEO in April 2023 for fraud. The publicly traded company, with ticker symbol $XONI, is also embarking on a crowdfunding initiative to bolster operations.

Chris Defendis, president of Xtreme One Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm over Lawler’s addition, highlighting his unparalleled experience in the sport. “Robbie has done this sport longer than 99 percent of people who have ever fought, and he’s seen it all,” Defendis remarked. This insight will help XFC become an organization that offers fighters genuine structure and guidance.

The XFC plans to host approximately 12 events in 2026, including both arena events and smaller “Young Guns” cards aimed at showcasing emerging talent. However, specific broadcast arrangements for the upcoming events remain to be announced.

XFC’s COO, Randel Aleman, emphasizes the organization’s goal of preparing fighters to be “pro ready” before they transition to larger promotions like the UFC. “We want to send guys to the UFC who are ready to rock and roll,” Aleman stated, drawing parallels to the high standards set by successful collegiate programs.

Lawler, a seasoned fighter with a record of 30-16, was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2025. He has an impressive history, having begun his professional fighting career at just 19 years old and winning the UFC welterweight championship in 2014. His iconic battle with Rory MacDonald in July 2015, celebrated as one of the greatest fights in UFC history, is a testament to his legacy.

As Lawler steps into this advisory role, the MMA community eagerly anticipates the impact he will have on the next generation of fighters. His expertise could be pivotal in shaping their careers and ensuring they are equipped to succeed at the highest levels of the sport. Fans and aspiring athletes alike are encouraged to stay tuned for updates on XFC’s upcoming events and initiatives.
