UPDATE: A 36-year-old man is in custody following the fatal stabbing of his father on September 27, 2023, in Riverside. Authorities report that David Rendon has been arrested after allegedly attacking his father, 74-year-old Crispin Rendon, at their home on Bahia Place.
Police responded to emergency calls at approximately 4:17 p.m., where they discovered Crispin Rendon suffering from multiple stab wounds in the driveway. Despite immediate medical attention from Riverside Fire Department paramedics, Crispin was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Following the incident, a tense standoff occurred as police attempted to negotiate with David Rendon for over two hours. He ultimately surrendered to SWAT officers without further incident, leading to his arrest on suspicion of murder. He is currently being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center with a bail set at $1 million.
