UPDATE: Human remains were discovered on Saturday in a shallow grave behind an abandoned school in Germantown, Philadelphia, as authorities continue the search for missing 23-year-old Kada Scott. This shocking development comes two weeks after Scott was reported missing under alarming circumstances.
The remains, yet to be identified, were uncovered following a “very specific” anonymous tip received overnight. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department resumed searching the area around 10 a.m. local time and made the grim discovery in a heavily wooded section near Awbury Arboretum, according to First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford.
“We have been in communication with her family regarding this process and the recovery of a human being,” Stanford stated during a press conference on Saturday evening.
Scott was last seen on October 4, 2023, when she left her home for her nursing home job. She was reported missing the following day, and police expressed heightened concern due to troubling phone calls she had received leading up to her disappearance. “Ms. Scott related to her family and friends that an unknown individual had been harassing her via phone,” said Captain John Craig.
Authorities previously charged Keon King, 21, with kidnapping in connection with Scott’s case. Police have indicated that Scott was in communication with King shortly after leaving work on October 4, further complicating the investigation. King is currently being held on a $2.5 million bail.
In a heartfelt statement, Scott’s father, Kevin Scott, expressed hope for his daughter’s safe return, saying, “It’s been difficult, extremely difficult. We keep faith that she’s OK and she’s going to be with us as soon as possible.”
Police initially sought public assistance in locating King’s vehicle, a 1999 metallic-gold Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania license plate MSX-0797, which they believed Scott may have been in. Later that day, authorities confirmed that the vehicle was found abandoned in an apartment lot.
