People Magazine Names Jonathan Bailey 2025’s Sexiest Man Alive

UPDATE: People Magazine has just announced that Jonathan Bailey has been awarded the title of Sexiest Man Alive for 2025, making history as the first out gay man to receive this prestigious honor. The announcement comes as Bailey prepares for the highly anticipated premiere of “Wicked: For Good,” where he reprises his role as Prince Fiyero.

This year’s selection marks the 37th time People has presented the coveted title since its inception in 1985, when Mel Gibson was the inaugural winner. Bailey’s recognition arrives on the heels of an impressive year, which included his Emmy-nominated performance in Showtime’s “Fellow Travelers” and a leading role in the upcoming blockbuster “Jurassic World: Rebirth.”

In a heartfelt statement to People, Bailey expressed his gratitude, stating, “It’s a huge honor. Obviously, I’m incredibly flattered. And it’s completely absurd.” He reflected on his journey, noting, “When I was really young, I was very confident about who I was, and maybe I lost that as I grew up.” The actor’s rise to fame began as Lord Anthony in Netflix’s breakout series “Bridgerton,” propelling him into global stardom.

WHY IT MATTERS NOW: Bailey’s selection is not just a personal achievement; it represents a significant moment for representation in Hollywood, as only five men of color have been awarded this title in the past. The majority of winners have historically been white actors, highlighting the ongoing discussions about diversity in the entertainment industry.

The announcement has ignited conversations online, with fans celebrating Bailey’s milestone and the broader implications for LGBTQ+ visibility in mainstream media.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR NEXT: As Bailey takes center stage with his new title, all eyes will be on his upcoming projects, including “Wicked: For Good” slated for release in 2025. The buzz surrounding Bailey’s crown is expected to elevate interest in his work and the representation of LGBTQ+ characters in major productions.

Stay tuned for more updates on Bailey’s journey and the cultural impact of this announcement as fans eagerly await the premiere of his latest projects.
