Jacob Lee Bard, 48, from Evansville, Indiana, is accused of opening fire on campus, resulting in the tragic death of De’Jon Darrell Fox Jr., 19, a sophomore at the university.
The incident unfolded around 3:10 PM at Young Hall. Bard, who is the father of two other KSU students, allegedly pulled out a handgun during an altercation and fired at the students. He was apprehended promptly by KSU Campus Police and has since been charged with murder and first-degree assault. During a court appearance on December 11, Bard entered a not guilty plea and was ordered to be held on a $1 million cash bond at the Franklin County Regional Jail.
Authorities confirmed that Fox succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. The university community is in mourning, with Fox’s family describing him as a loving teenager who brought joy to others.
