UPDATE: In a shocking turn of events, more than $6 million has been raised in the wake of the tragic murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on October 4, 2023. This outpouring of support is aimed at assisting his wife, Erika Kirk, and their two children during this unimaginably difficult time.
Since the announcement of Kirk’s death, vigils and memorial services have erupted across the nation, with thousands gathering to honor his legacy. Notably, a significant memorial took place at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on Sunday evening, drawing attention from political figures across the spectrum who condemned the violence that led to his untimely passing.
Kirk, aged 31, was a close ally of former President Donald Trump and played a pivotal role in mobilizing millions of young Americans into the conservative movement. Trump himself credited Kirk with being instrumental in his election victory in November.
Following the tragedy, several online fundraisers have launched in Kirk’s honor. The most prominent is an initiative by ALP, a nicotine pouch brand co-owned by Tucker Carlson Network and Turning Point, which has raised over $4.65 million on GiveSendGo, aiming for a goal of $6 million. ALP has also contributed $1 million to the fundraiser, expressing their heartbreak over Kirk’s death, stating, “Love for God, family, and country defined his life.”
In addition, Turning Point Action has launched its own fundraising page, described as an “official support page,” which has raised over $1.25 million. Another fundraiser initiated by Glenn Beck’s 9-12 project has amassed more than $500,000. Smaller campaigns on platforms like GoFundMe have also gathered tens of thousands of dollars, with one particular fundraiser collecting over $60,800.
Erika Kirk has vowed to continue her husband’s political mission, stating, “The movement my husband built will not die. It won’t. I refuse to let that happen.”
The suspect in Kirk’s murder, Tyler Robinson, aged 22, is expected to be formally charged on October 10, 2023, after surrendering to police.
A large memorial service is scheduled for next week in Kirk’s home state of Arizona at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, which has a capacity of 60,000. Former President Trump is anticipated to attend this significant event.
As the nation grapples with the implications of Kirk’s death, the overwhelming response from supporters highlights the deep impact he had on American conservative politics and the lives he touched. The memorials and fundraisers serve as a testament to his enduring legacy and the community’s commitment to support his family in this time of grief.
