BREAKING: In a major casting announcement, Olivia Wilde has joined Pedro Pascal and David Harbour in the upcoming drama Behemoth!, directed by Tony Gilroy for Searchlight Pictures. Filming is set to begin in Los Angeles later this week, marking a significant moment for Wilde as she makes her return to the big screen.
This project represents Gilroy’s first major work since wrapping up all commitments to the critically acclaimed second season of Andor, which earned him an Emmy Award nomination for Best Series. Gilroy, who wrote the script for Behemoth!, is also producing alongside Sanne Wohlenberg and John Gilroy, both of whom collaborated with him on Andor.
Although Searchlight Pictures has yet to reveal an official logline, sources close to the production tell The Hollywood Reporter that the story is a heartfelt tribute to the music industry and the individuals who shape it. The plot centers around a musician, played by Pascal, who hails from a family of musicians and returns to Los Angeles, grappling with his past. Wilde will portray his former lover, adding emotional depth to the narrative.
The urgency of this project has caught the attention of Hollywood, with Rayne Roberts, Senior VP of Production, and Cameron Chidsey, Creative Executive, overseeing the film for Searchlight Pictures. They report to production heads DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
Wilde, known for her directorial role in The Invite and her appearances in Babylon and Don’t Worry Darling, is poised to make waves once again. Earlier this year, she featured in Seth Rogen‘s Apple TV+ series The Studio, further showcasing her versatility as an actress and director.
As Behemoth! gears up for production, audiences can anticipate a compelling exploration of love and music. With its star-studded cast and a celebrated director at the helm, this film is set to make an immediate impact in the entertainment landscape.
Stay tuned for more updates as this exciting project unfolds!
