URGENT UPDATE: A police officer in Wallingford, Connecticut, has suffered serious injuries while arresting a man accused of causing a disturbance at a local go-kart track. The incident unfolded at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at On-Trak Karting, located at 984 N. Colony Road, when officers responded to reports of an intoxicated individual behaving aggressively.
Tevin Robles, 28, is now facing multiple charges, including four counts of interfering with an officer and charges for assaulting public safety personnel, second-degree breach of peace, and first-degree criminal mischief, according to Wallingford Police Chief John Ventura. Robles allegedly charged at an officer’s cruiser upon police arrival, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
According to Chief Ventura, Robles was uncooperative and resistant, attempting to flee during the officers’ engagement. In the ensuing struggle, an officer suffered a broken tibia and fibula and was taken to a hospital for urgent surgery.
Robles’ disruptive behavior continued even after his arrest. While in the police cruiser, he reportedly kicked and damaged a window frame, further complicating the situation. Chief Ventura confirmed that Robles remained non-compliant at the police department, extending the confrontation.
Robles is currently being held on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on September 16, 2023. The incident has raised concerns about safety and public order at local entertainment venues.
