UPDATE: A new pop-up business, Suburban Graze, is transforming how locals celebrate gatherings in Pingree Grove with its customized charcuterie boxes. Launched by Jessica Vorakoummane Henryson and her husband Scott Henryson, the venture is rapidly gaining popularity at local events, offering a fresh alternative for parties and celebrations.
In a bold move to redefine catering options, Jessica and Scott Henryson aim to make charcuterie accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Their offerings are perfect for occasions like Chicago Bears playoff games and baby showers, making it easier than ever to impress guests.
Jessica’s inspiration comes from her family’s journey, which included travels across the U.S. and time spent in Japan during Scott’s 21 years with the U.S. Marine Corps. They often prepared their own charcuterie spreads instead of relying on gas station snacks, fostering an adventurous culinary spirit in their children, Valarie (10) and Xander (8).
“We built lasting connections through food, discovering cultures and creating memories around the table,” Jessica shared. Now, they are channeling that passion into their business, which officially launched as they settled in Pingree Grove in September 2024.
At their pop-up events, guests can create their own grazing boards from a selection of meats, cheeses, and accompaniments. Prices range from $10 to $30, providing options for various budgets. The couple has collaborated with local venues, including the Martini Room in Elgin, to offer charcuterie boxes during midweek promotions and special events.
The Henrysons’ innovative approach has drawn significant interest, with requests for larger spreads and themed boxes already coming in. A popular item is their Bears-themed charcuterie, featuring colorful ingredients like blackberries and sharp cheddar, perfect for game days.
Jessica also emphasizes community engagement, urging residents to support local businesses by following their social media pages. “Every like, share, and comment significantly impacts small entrepreneurs like us,” she said.
With their focus on quality and creativity, Suburban Graze is set to become a staple in the Pingree Grove community. The Henrysons will continue to explore new partnerships and expand their offerings, including plans for a grazing table at a murder mystery event in February 2025.
As they grow, the family remains committed to their roots and the experiences that shaped their culinary journey. Keep an eye out for their next pop-up event and discover how Suburban Graze can elevate your next gathering!
