NBA Star Naz Reid’s Sister Killed in New Jersey Shooting

BREAKING: The sister of Minnesota Timberwolves star Naz Reid, Toraya Reid, was tragically shot and killed in a New Jersey apartment complex on Saturday morning. This shocking incident has left family, friends, and fans reeling with grief.

At approximately 11 a.m. ET on October 14, 2023, Jackson Township police responded to reports of gunfire at the complex. Upon arrival, officers found Toraya Reid, aged 24, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities quickly apprehended Shaquille Green, 29, identified as Toraya’s boyfriend, who was seen fleeing the area. He has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Green is currently in custody at the Ocean County Jail.

This incident marks a devastating chapter for Naz Reid, who grew up in nearby Asbury Park, New Jersey. Reid, 25, recently shared heartfelt memories of his sister on social media, showcasing their close bond. In a 2023 interview with Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, he described Toraya as “super protective,” emphasizing her role as a guiding figure in his life.

As the Timberwolves prepare for the upcoming NBA season, Reid is set to enter his seventh year with the team, following a breakout performance last season. The shooting not only impacts his family but also sends shockwaves through the basketball community, prompting widespread condolences from fans and fellow players alike.
