BREAKING: Mythos Studios has just revealed the first teaser for its highly anticipated film, Ekos, during the 2023 Comic-Con event in San Diego. This surprise announcement comes after years of development and has already sparked significant excitement among fans.
The teaser, described as “super-early, super-rough,” was shown at the end of Thursday’s Aspen Comics panel and was not initially intended for public release. However, due to an overwhelming positive reaction from the audience, Mythos Studios decided to share it online. The footage draws inspiration from the iconic works of Michael Turner, the late artist and Aspen Comics founder, alongside acclaimed writer Geoff Johns.
David Maisel, founder and chairman of Mythos Studios and former chairman of Marvel Studios, introduced the teaser. He humorously compared it to an end-credits scene, stating, “When I saw that my family at Marvel was not doing Hall H this year, they asked me to step in.” Fans in attendance likened the excitement to the 2007 Comic-Con debut of the first Iron Man footage, indicating the high expectations surrounding this new project.
The teaser coincides with the release of Ekos Vol. 1, a graphic novel that launched earlier this year, supported by a successful $238,000 Kickstarter campaign. The story primarily focuses on the character Grell, who is being positioned as a potential breakout star in the film. In the teaser, Grell expresses a pressing concern: “The world needs a wake-up call,” highlighting the film’s environmental themes.
As of now, Maisel is actively seeking a production partner to bring Ekos to life, envisioning a cinematic universe where Turner’s characters can interact, similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This ambitious project is poised to create a significant impact in the film industry, particularly due to its unique narrative and connection to beloved comic book lore.
Stay tuned for more updates on Ekos as Mythos Studios continues to develop this exciting new venture. The buzz surrounding the film is palpable, and fans are eager to see how it unfolds.
