Music Lovers Create DIY Spotify Wrapped AI Podcast in Minutes

BREAKING: A passionate music fan has successfully created a personalized Spotify Wrapped AI Podcast using NotebookLM, showcasing their unique listening habits over the past year. This innovative endeavor comes after the official Spotify Wrapped AI Podcast was only available in select regions, leaving many fans eager for their own year-in-review experience.

UPDATE: The individual, who resides outside the available regions, was determined to craft a podcast that rivals Spotify’s version, which launched in December 2023. Using their listening history from Last.fm, they quickly set up their own podcast, taking just five minutes to compile data and generate an engaging audio recap.

The official Spotify Wrapped AI Podcast was accessible only to Free and Premium users in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and Sweden, causing disappointment among global listeners. By leveraging Last.fm, the creator gathered a detailed record of their music preferences, including tracks, artists, and listening patterns spanning from November 2023 to October 2024.

To kick off the project, the music enthusiast downloaded their Last.fm data using a user-friendly tool called BenjaminBenBen. This provided them with a clean CSV file of their listening habits, which they converted into a PDF compatible with NotebookLM.

HOW IT WORKS: The creator crafted a custom prompt for NotebookLM, instructing the AI to generate an audio overview similar to Spotify’s Wrapped format. The result? Two versions of the podcast: a short recap and a longer, more detailed analysis. The process highlighted trends in their music taste, including a notable increase in Ariana Grande’s tracks during July and an unexpected affinity for Louis Tomlinson.

Feedback from friends who had access to Spotify’s official podcast revealed that while both versions shared similarities, the DIY podcast offered deeper insights into the creator’s listening preferences. One colleague noted that the NotebookLM version felt more dynamic and engaging, while another mentioned that it provided a level of analysis missing from the original.

As Spotify’s official AI podcast referenced metrics like “top 1% of listeners,” the DIY version offered a more personal touch, delving into listening habits and seasonal changes. The creator’s experiment illustrates the power of technology and creativity, allowing fans worldwide to take control of their music narratives.

WHAT’S NEXT: This innovative approach to creating personalized podcasts is expected to inspire others who felt excluded from Spotify’s Wrapped experience. With the next Spotify Wrapped set to launch in December 2024, fans are encouraged to explore their own creative avenues, utilizing tools like NotebookLM to craft their unique audio experiences.

This compelling story highlights how technology can bridge gaps in accessibility and foster a deeper connection to music. Music lovers are urged to share their experiences and explore the potential of DIY podcasts, making the most of their music journeys.
